Michèle's aim is to produce ceramics which are a delight to the eye, to hold in the hand and to use for their obvious purpose.
She makes everything you need for use in the kitchen, from cereal bowls to large platters, with large mugs being a particular speciality for that Yorkshire cup of tea!
Most of her work is thrown on the wheel and several layers of glaze are later applied to give great depth and variation of colour. This is often a risky procedure as the combinations can run off the pot, causing ruination to both the pot and the shelf it was on - that's what happened to the bottom pot on the left.
She is constantly experimenting to prevent this and also to discover new glaze combinations which will alter the final effect. She has developed many of the glazes herself in a quest which is never-ending, frequently frustrating but occasionally exceedingly rewarding.
if you can pay Michèle a visit, you will find her work sensibly priced to reflect the skill and work involved.
Expect to pay, for example, around
£12 for a mug,
£13 for a cereal bowl,
£20 for a pasta bowl and £40-£50 for a fruit bowl.
